Ramnath Clinic's story runs from a full nursing home in 1973 to the multi-specialty outpatient practice it is today — the same family, the same building, a changing shape of care.
Dr. A. Ramanathan establishes Ramnath Nursing Home in Puthiyara. In its early years the building runs full inpatient services, including a minor operation theatre and a labour room — a working nursing home for the neighbourhood, not just a clinic.
Logistics eventually make continuing inpatient services impractical. The nursing home closes its beds, OT, and labour room, and the practice continues as a purely outpatient clinic under Dr. S. Krishnakumar — Dr. Ramanathan's son-in-law — carrying the family practice forward in a new form.
In July 2026, the practice expands well beyond general medicine. Paediatrics, gynaecology, dentistry, physical medicine & rehabilitation, physiotherapy, and nephrology join general and family medicine under the same roof, supported by an in-house pharmacy and a lab sample collection point run in partnership with Aswini Diagnostics. Dental and orofacial pain care operates as its own dedicated practice within the building.
Through every change in scope, Ramnath Clinic has stayed a family-run practice on the same road in Puthiyara. The name on the door, and the family behind it, is the constant across five decades — only the range of care under that name has grown.
